All Phone Number Formatter settings are configured per-portal from the app's Settings page. These settings control the default behavior of the Format Phone Number workflow action.
General Settings
| Setting | Description | Options | Default |
|---|---|---|---|
| Default Country Code | The country dial code to prepend when a phone number does not already include one. Enter the code with a leading + sign. |
Any valid country code (e.g. +1, +44, +49, +33) |
+49 (Germany) |
| Remove Leading Zero | When enabled, the app strips the leading zero from a phone number before adding the country code. This is common for European countries where local numbers start with 0 (e.g. 0151 becomes 151 before prepending +49). |

How Settings Interact with the Workflow Action
The settings on this page provide defaults for the Format Phone Number workflow action. When you add the action to a workflow, you can override the country on a per-action basis by selecting a different country from the dropdown. The leading-zero setting always applies globally based on this page.
Default Country Code Examples
| Country | Code |
|---|---|
| United States / Canada | +1 |
| United Kingdom | +44 |
| Germany | +49 |
| France | +33 |
| Australia | +61 |
| Spain | +34 |
| Italy | +39 |
| Japan | +81 |
| Brazil | +55 |
When to Disable Remove Leading Zero
Disable this setting if you primarily work with phone numbers that do not use a trunk prefix (leading zero). For example, US and Canadian numbers never start with a leading zero in local format, so this setting has no effect for those countries. It is most relevant for European countries like Germany, the UK, France, and Italy.
